Introduction:

WinR-DP was developed to provide a quick and efficient means for analyzing equipment field failure data.  Required input includes failure date and time, equipment identification, failure code identification, and total equipment down time for the event.  Additional information that can be provided includes event type (failure, preventive maintenance, etc.), additional down time details, and a descriptive failure name. WinR-DP provides an Excel-compatible interface for importing data. WinR-DP provides statistical reliability results representing the equipment sample.  Equipment and time-period specific results are also available.

Benefits:

WinR-DP provides a powerful yet easy-to-use capability for analyzing field failure data.  Data importing requires only a few steps and is done through an Excel compatible spreadsheet or data can be retrieved directly from an ODBC compliant database. WinR-DP is compatible with many commercially available computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) software packages.  The system is highly configurable and provides several user-defined measures of equipment reliability.

Capabilities:

WinR-DP performs statistical reliability analysis of the equipment population based on the imported sample.  It also provides reliability analysis results for user-selected equipment and time periods.  Analysis results include:

  • Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF):  MTBF as well as other user-specified results such as MTBA (mean time between assists) or MTBI (mean time between interrupts) can be calculated,
  • Down Time: Average or total down time can be calculated taking into account event types and down time components that the user chooses,
  • Availability: Up to four different availability measures such as intrinsic availability or operational availability can be calculated,
  • Maintenance Cost: Cost analysis is optional but, if chosen, can take into account event types and down time components of the user's choice,
  • Sensitivity: At the user's option, key failure mode contributors will be ranked for any of the reliability measures, and
  • Variability: At the user's option, key failure mode contributors to variability will be ranked for any of the reliability measures.

Applications:

WinR-DP has been applied to a wide variety of manufacturing equipment including several machine tools, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and trucking equipment. . WinR-DP is applicable to any repairable equipment for which detailed maintenance records are kept.

Status:

WinR-DP is currently beta testing.
